At each stage of a child’s life their needs change, at Kensington Nannies we aim to be able to provide childcare solutions that meet their needs from birth to teens. Just like there are different types of childcare, there are different types of candidates, each with their own special skill to offer so we do not set hard and fast criteria that are required in order to register, generally it is expected that:
- A professional Nanny has a Childcare qualification, degree or diploma that covers child development/care of children, or has recently worked as a Nanny for a significant period in paid employment.
- However, we believe those without a childcare qualification but with varied childcare experience & transferable skills can be just as good as their counterpart. If they have had recent past employment experiences indicative of a strong childcare theme as a career choice in paid employment in a relatable field such as:
- SEN assistant, social worker, play therapist, children’s sports coach, camp counselor or have worked recently as a Nanny in the private sector.
- Have a minimum of 2 referees from previous employment who are willing to be contacted by Kensington Nannies.
- Hold or be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate, or, if from outside of England relevant police check & First Aid.
Candidate Criteria to Register as a Governess
- Formally qualified and hold a degree, i.e. Early Childhood Degree, Secondary Education Degree or Bachelor of Education or relatable tertiary degree.
- Experience as a Teacher/Governess/ Governor is desirable.
- Have a minimum of 2 referees from previous employment who are willing to be contacted by Kensington Nannies.
- Hold or be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate, or if from outside of England relevant police check & First Aid.
